The company, most of which had played
their roles on stage, was well rehearsed and filming was a fairly easy
three day process. The cast was plagued by a nasty flu bug, which
tried to strike down Will B. Able (The Genie). He performed the Genie
dance with a temperature of 103F. And they had to do three takes, not
because he was ill but for technical reasons - he was perfect in each
one. Will B. Able (The Genie) Choreographed the Genie and Fatima
dances.

Synopsis:
Aladdin
(Donald O'Connor) meets the beautiful Jalma (Noelle Adam),
the Sultan's daughter, who has orders from her father to
find a husband, pronto. Aladdin and Jalma fall for each
other, but in steps the Sultan's wicked Grand Vizier (Fausto
Tozzi) who intends to marry Jalma and eventually become
sultan. In order to overcome the Grand Vizier and marry
his lady love, Aladdin first finds a magic lamp in the
Cave of Wonders, rubs it, and unleashes the powerful genie
(Vittorio de Sica) who can grant him three wishes. |
