| The
Adventures of Sinbad (1996-1997,
1997-1998) |
This
two-season television series featured Sinbad (Zen Gesner) and his
ongoing adventures with his crew, especially older brother Doubar
(George Buza), inventor friend Firouz (Tim Progosh), young sorceress
named Maeve (Jacquelline Collin), and the silent Moor, Rongar (Oris
Erhuero). Sinbad had a number of adventures but was particularly
plagued by his nemesis the sorceress Rumina, who both desired and
hated Sinbad. The show
seemed to be trying for child-sensitive themes: relying on
Firouz’s inventions and plans, killing bad guys only when it was
unavoidable. When this
approach failed to produce the desired ratings, they dropped the
character of Maeve and replaced her with a mysterious amnesiac witch
named Bryn (Mariah Shirley). The
whole production became darker in themes but it didn’t save the
ratings.

SINBAD THE SAILOR |
THE ADVENTURES BEGIN:
Climb aboard the Nimbus and journey to exciting and often dangerous
adventures in THE FANTASTIC VOYAGES OF SINBAD THE SAILOR. Join the
coourageous young SINBAD, pal HAKEEM and the lion-sized cat KULAK, as
they travel the far corners of the world exploring fascinating
mysteries, exotic legends and strange mythological creatures. These
delightful animated tales are filled with colourful characters. Each
episode provides special lessons on the value of friendship and
working together. |
|
"THE BEGINNING" SINBAD's
special friendship with HAKEEM, the street urchin, and cat KULAK
begins when SINBAD is captured by a villainous pirate and taken aboard
his pirate ship. With the help of stowaways HAKEEM and KULAK, the
three devise a daring plan of escape. Giant bat-like creatures and
flying Pega-centaurs are just part of the excitement for the fearsome
threesome in their first amazing adventure. |
|
"ISLE OF THE
AMAZONS" SINBAD and HAKEEM are at the mercy of an evil wizard,
PEROS, who unjustly holds them in prison. While there, they meet
another prisoner, teenage DAPHNE, who wants to get back to her island
home which is populated by super-strong female amazons. Though they
manage to escape from PEROS, he follows them to the island. Get ready
for the final showdown as SINBAD boards a giant flying griffin,
determined to defeat his foe and save the island women. |
|
"THE IMP OF EVIL"
Sometimes looks can be deceiving. Aboard the NIMBUS, SINBAD and
company reel in the anchor and are surprised to find a mysterious
chest attached. Upon opening the chest, out pops an adorable little
imp. To their delight, he charms them with astonishing magic tricks.
But not everyone thinks he's harmless, particularly KULAK and SORAYA.
And as fast as you can say "abbra kadabbra", the crafty imp turns into
an evil whirlwind of destruction. |
|
"THE METEOR OF
DESTRUCTION" A tidal wave is about to hit SORAYA's home village
and SINBAD enlists the aid of a great white shark to help him stop it.
After sailing to SORAYA's home TANOORA, SINBAD and HAKEEM learn that
her astronomer uncle has a jealous rival named MOLITORR. An astronomer
himself, MOLITORR is planning to change the course of a planetoid
whereby it plunges into the sea creating a giant wave of dangerous
water! |
